Luna 16.

S Korea mis-identify Luna 16 as being related to Lunokhod-1. It landed in Mare Fecunditatis 24 September 1970, 05:25 UTC.

Luna 21 formed part of the Lunokhod 2 mission, and landed in Le Monnier on 24 September 1970, 05:25 UTC.

Danuri Unmanned landers

Luna 17 & Lunokhod 1


Luna 17 formed part of the Lunokhod 1 mission, which landed in  17/11/70 in Mare Imbrium.


Lunokhod 1 travelled 10km north of Luna 17, and as a result is usually in the same Danuri image.

Luna 20

A sample return mission that landed in the Terra Apollonius  highlands on 25/02/72.

Luna 23 & 24


Luna 23 was a failed sample return mission, soft landing on its side in Mare Crisium on 28/10/74 - more info here.


Luna 24 was a successful sample return that landed close to Luna 23’s site on 22/08/76. More info here.


As a result they are often in the same image.
